Contemplation

Church of Mary is not an institution, but a space of presence.

An art church, a temple of the soul.

Where language forms the house of being, art opens a space in which being becomes experience.

In the encounter with art, the soul becomes perceptible.

My background lies in literary studies and philosophy. Poetry is my mode of being. Word and image are inseparably woven in my work.

Where language reaches its limit, art takes place as event.

Contemplation

For me, the soul is not an idea.

It is an experience in itself.

It reveals itself through art, through silence, through encounter, and through images that move us without our fully understanding why.

As an artist, I engage with this space of the soul.

Not to explain it.

But to make it tangible in experience.

Art can touch the mystery.

Language cannot possess it.

Yet it can draw nearer to it.

My Contemplations arise from this movement of approach.

They are attempts to come closer to the mystery of the soul through language.

Not by explaining it.

But by circling around it.

Circling.

Lingering.

Questioning.

They do not follow a straight line of argument, nor do they seek definitive answers.

They move among images, symbols, poems, and experiences

that point toward something greater.

There is an ancient word for this movement:

Circumambulatio.

The circling of a mystery.

Not in order to grasp it.

Not in order to understand it.

But to draw nearer in movement.

The soul is my subject.

Circumambulatio is my method.

Each Contemplation carries the previous one within it.

They follow one another as movement.

Not as answers.

But as traces of a circling movement.

Traces of the movement toward the mystery of the soul.
